Murray N. Rothbard: In Memoriam
Published in Paperback by Ludwig Von Mises Inst (01 June, 1995)
Author: Llewellyn H. Rockwell
Average review score:

A Tribute To A Great Man
Each of the 31 essays in this book explains the personal and professional influence that Murray Rothbard had on those who knew him. In particular, Joseph Stromgerg`s and Joseph Salerno`s essays provide the most detail, but all entries here are excellent.

Murray Rothbard was a seminal figure in the post-world war 2 intellectual movement for individual rights. (This movement is popularly refered to as "conservative," sometimes it is known as "libertarian." Regardless of the nomenclature the basic idea is a respect for individual liberty and rights.) Rothbard not only laid a theoretical foundation upon which a generation of scholars could continue his work, he actually practiced the "conservative" values of piety, humility, and a quest for knowledge AND understanding of the nature and essence of reality. This anthology of reflections of the impact that Murray Rothbard had on this group of academics and scholars suggests that his influence will be felt by many generations to come.

While I never meet Murray personally, I have my own testimony as to the impact that he can have on his readers. Through his books and articles I have been able to develop a much deeper and broader understanding of economics, philosophy, hisory, and government and politics. There will never be another Murray Rothbard but we should all be grateful for the legacy that he left behind.

Murray on Contracts
Published in Hardcover by Matthew Bender & Company ()
Author: John Edward Murray
Average review score:

Murray On Contracts: a priceless study of contract law
Professor Murray has created a masterful volume cogently and concisely providing the principles of contract law. Murray on Contracts is a must read for any law student, practitioner, or business person seriously interested in a complete study of contract law. This volume contains abundant citations to case law and legal commentary that is valuable to any practitioner analyzing the state of a principle of contract law in his or her jurisdiction. In addition, Murray's lucid and facile style allows the layman and lawyer alike to learn the principles of contract law with pleasure and insight. This is a great contrast to the overly pedantic style of many academic commentators in various courses of study. In short, Murray on Contracts does what few other volumes of its kind can do: make a volume of complex and arcane legal principles read like an engrossing novel.

Wonderful reference
This massive 600+ page hardbound reference book is a must for any working musician no matter what level of formal training you have had. Helps in understanding (in the most basic way of saying it) how and why do musical noises sound as they do. Can also be a useful tool for songwriters of any genre.

My Khyber Marriage
Published in Paperback by The Long Riders' Guild Press (01 October, 2001)
Author: Morag Murray Abdullah
Average review score:

An Absolutely wonderful and Enthralling book!
"My Khyber Marriage" is a very well written auto-biography of a young Scottish woman in the early years of WWI. She marries a Pathan (the Pathans are a tribe of people who live in the Khyber Pass which is located between northern India and Afghanistan) and returns to his home in the Khyber Pass. This book shows no prejudices and portrays the differing cultures between a Scottish clan and a Pathan clan, very well. I highly recommend it for people from ages of 14 on, and who enjoy adventure packed, cliff-hanging and humorous stories!

The Myth of Metaphor
Published in Hardcover by University of South Carolina Press (June, 1970)
Author: Colin Murray Turbayne
Average review score:

Required Reading
This book analyzes the central role the metaphors play in human thought. Metaphors reveal and highlight certain
aspects as well as hide other aspects. As scientists we use theoretical models to understand the real world constantly. The
fact these models are metaphors is crucial to understanding many debates about the realism and lack thereof of scientific theories. I am surprised that the set of ideas contained in this book is so little known and discussed in academic circles. I
have not read them, but more recent books like Lakoff's Metaphors We Live By probably cover the same ground.

A must for every one interested in integrated medicine
Dr. Murray proves once again his outstanding breadth of knowledge when it comes to complementing conventional medicine with advanced natural medicine. The book contains 3 major sections: The first section discusses the current need for natural medicine, the second one brings in-depth comparisons of common drugs vs. natural alternatives for 18 major ailments, and the third section beautifully covers 5 aspects of the "staying healthy" issue. The main aspects of each and every ailment included in this book is wisely covered, and the available conventional vs. alternative medications are critically discussed. The book reads fluently and the author spent much energy to make each and every medical term easy to understand and comprehend, even for layman. This is a must for health practitoners as well as for each and every health conscious individual.

The authoritative Reformed commentary
Murray's commentary on Romans is the best 20th century treatment of the work, easily beating Barth's earlier work. Tying in with his "Redemption Accomplished and Applied", Murray seizes the main theme of Romans, our justification, and carefully exegetes the book with a continual thought to the overall theme

Where is my Palgrave Dictionary of Economics????
I'm soooo looking forward to getting this terrific Economics Dictionary/Encyclopedia. Wonder what's taking the publisher so long to get it out? Price is about one-third what the original cost. I thought of getting that original one back in graduate school (Ohio State University). But now the softbound will do just fine, as a welcome addition to my library. Ohhh, Palgrave, where ***are*** you??? Come to my ***mailbox***. Quickly, please........
